When The Hut Group took the gym over I was quite enthusiastic about the potential for the club to be taken to a higher level of quality and service as the club was becoming tired and needed investment. However, since they took over, the gym has just become an advertising ground for The Hut Group's products, in particular MyProtein.
I was really hoping for good things to come from the take over but I have been consistently disappointed, namely by the poor change in layout of the gym itself, the below par cleanliness, areas of the spa often being out of order or not functional, the showers being dirty, the new kitch decor and the attitude of a number of staff who seem to see members as more of an inconvenience than valued customers. On top of this the membership has gone up from £78 per month to £90 per month. If you want a small bottle of water you'll pay a princely sum of £2 for what you can buy from Costco for 20p. The restaurant used to be superb but is now OK at best.
I am sad that a place with such potential has lost its way as much as it has. The take over has been a disaster in my mind.
